Are you new to the game? I would suggest finding a magic store in your area, a lot of players in my area give away our excess cards to new players to help them out. I'm sure NY has plenty of MTG stores. You could try WWW.WIZARDSOFTHECOAST.COM
I found a link there before that gave me all the stores in each area that dealt with MTG.
And with any luck you will find a avid MTG female player there.
