Well, I think that is rather and assumption that being black is directly related to a taste for a particular food. Most likely what you are observing is that chicken is a relatively inexpensive meat, economically depressed people tend to have a less expensive diet and blacks are disproportionately economically disadvantaged compared to whites.
If you were to eliminate the race factor and look strictly at income level, you'd probably find that it's the income level that is most directly correlated with the choice of chicken. It's less a choice of chicken over beef than it is chicken over nothing.

I'm black and I'm a vegetarian, I don't touch chicken and I never even really liked it that much when I did eat meat and by the way instead of you being so concerned about black people and chicken you should be more concerned w/ the fact that you cannot spell.

Firstly, blacks make up 13% of the population...we can't be the sole consumers of chicken otherwise KFC would go out of business! Lol. People of all races like chicken.
It's just another stereotype made up to make fun of black people.
I have no idea where the watermelon one came from...

i think i heard on a documentary that in black history frying chicken was easy and cheap and would last longer and thats why it became so popular in there culture, if people on here say "I can't believe you said that, not that many black people like chicken" well thats a plain out lie, i live in a very diverse area and all the chicken places are ALWAYS packed with black people, the black people i work with bring chicken in work for lunch all the time, i don't see why people are getting so offended that you asked this, whats so bad about a certain race liking a certain food? we are all different and we all have our likes and dislikes

ethnic foods such as collard greens, black eyed peas, chicken, yams, are all foods that wouldn't spoil as easily during slavery when african americans had to work in mines and out in the cotton fields so this food was the preferred choice and also due to poverty was easily accessible. These foods have followed us through history and for the record, most cultures use chicken in there recipes because it's economical and depending on how it's fixed can be healthy.

You know, it was a white guy who made fried chicken a food chain....Colonel Sanders. So, I'd say it has nothing to do with race....
