I'm thinkin' about buyin' this lot here in Oklahoma and it's a Zone C-2 and I was wondering if it was for residential or business use? And if it's used for residential, would I still be available to use it for a residents too? Like havin' the bottom floor for business, and the top floor for livin'. Any help would be great.

Without knowing the town in Oklahoma, and the specific address of the property you are thinking of buying, it is not possible to give you a definitive answer to your question.

Counties usually adopt some kind of model zoning code and then draw a planning and zoning map based on the definitions and descriptions contained in the code. They often modify these codes based on unique local conditions and situations. Incorporated areas such as villages, towns, cities, and sometimes townships often further modify the codes.

The "C" in C-2 zoning stands for "Commercial", and "2" stands for the subsection of the commercial section of the code. In general terms, C-2 zoning allows for a mixture of office, retail, and personal/business services. Single or multifamily residential may also sometimes be part of the mix.

The only way to know for sure what is allowed under C-2 zoning on the property you are considering is to contact your local "Planning & Zoning" office. They are public employees and are obligated to answer your questions regarding zoning issues and your property. You should be able to find them in your local phone book under "county government" or "city government".

Good luck with your plans.
