Like a window screen? I'm not sure but I'll give it a go.
Cell membranes control chemicals going in and out of the cell. It also protects some of the organisms in the cell, such as the nucleus. It also has selective permeability, like a window screen, which lets in light. So I guess, if you think about it, it is like a window screen, since window screens protect/ cover things, and allow certain things in and out, don't they?

The window screen analogy is used fairly frequently. Ideally, a screen lets air through but not insects. Likewise, a cell membrane is semipermeable, letting some molecules cross it, but not others.

it controls what comes in and out, just as a window screen does not allow insects in, but does let fresh air in.

It lets small particles in and out. This could be protiens, waste ,ect. It is like a screen, because it doesn't let in large things, like (in the macroscopic world) leaves, sticks, harmful things (usually).

Weird question.
It lets some things in, but not others? That's the best I can come up with without more information on where the question is coming from.
