November 22, 1963 -- President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas under mysterious circumstances. The "official" report put out by a special blue-ribbon committee appointed by President Lyndon Baines Johnson and headed by Chief Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, a former U.S. Marine who had spent several years living in the Soviet Union and was believed to be a communist sympathizer, shot and killed the President from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. Subsequent studies and eyewitness accounts indicate that the shot that killed President Kennedy could not have come from the Texas School Book Depository, therefore there is a widespread belief that Kennedy's assassination was a conspiracy. No one knows for sure if there really was a conspiracy or who was involved, but researchers have pointed fingers at the Mafia, the U.S. military-industrial complex, even President Johnson (Kennedy's successor).
