I run daily and have an iPod nano. I began with the shuffle (the smallest they have) but the problem is that you get two choices- either the songs play in the same order every time or you have them shuffle and you have no control over what song comes next. With the Nano, you can create different playlists which is helpful for different moods and different workouts. You can then also use it for other things (travel, etc) and you're not stuck with a shuffle of the same songs.
Since you are already familiar with iTunes, it seems logical to go ahead with the Nano. The warranty on Nanos is great- I had a problem with mine and they just gave me a new one!
Also, as far as weight, the nano is a perfect size. As I said before, I run a lot and have found that it's easy to either carry in my palm or I also have a case for it that clips on my shorts- I wear normal running shorts and it's not too heavy that it pulls down or feels like it's going to fall off.
Oh yea. Nano's are cute. They have fun colors :-) Hope all this info helps!

Get an ipod nano or shuffle, they are both durable and very light and the ones with the smallest memory should be able to hold all your songs roughly about 1 GB.

I normally recommend against iPod, but since you want to use iTunes, I'd recommend a 2Gb or 4Gb iPod Nano. The larger models are too large and use a hard drive for storage.
You could get by with a smaller capacity, but it's not that much more for the additional capacity. You will appreciate the added capacity.

I'd recommend a 1 gig one, which you don't need that space at this moment, but trust me you will soon. I had a 512 MB one and than had too many songs for it so I bought a 1 gig and now I need bigger. So if you are fine with that amount of songs get a 512 MB one, but if you think you will want more songs in the future get a 1 gig one. Sandisk makes nice ones and they are inexpensive.
