Better a tax on pet food than people food. Having a pet is not a necessity. If you can't afford to feed a pet, taxes and all, then you shouldn't have one.

I have no Children and the amount of pleasure I get from my cats is un measurable, not to mention the love they give.

I wouldnt begrudge them anything, But I do feel sorry for some of the Old Age Pensioners or disabled people whose only companion is a pet, or the owner of a working animal ie Guide / Hearing its a shame they have to pay extra for their pet food.

Why should pet food not be taxed. It is not essential to have a pet, and even if it is their is nothing stopping you from feeding it your own food.

Why not That filthy, greasy Gordon even taxes us on bicycles. Even though he's determined to be seen as 'green'. He can't just help taxing everything, it's in his nature. When he's finally off the leash we'll be in for a very scary few years.

To answerer above me, I suppose you believe Guide dogs should also have their food taxed as they do now.
