for a less complicated life with simpler rules?

Not often. My life is fairly simple. Most complications are of my own making, and the rules I choose to follow are easy enough.
It's the rules I know about and choose not to follow that usually trip me up, but again, that is my own doing and can be just as easily undone...if I choose.
