Recently I formatted my pc but today I figured out that I am not able to browse the LAN however I can connect internet without any problems. I turned off my firewall but no use. Also I can not ping other computers on the LAN it is always returning "timed out". I tried everything comes in my mind, but couldn't overcome it.

PS: The LAN is an university LAN so I do not have any routers etc.

I ran "Network Diagnostics"; it returned as failed in following things:

-Ethernet Card
-DHCPServer = 10.0.0.2
-WAN Miniport (IP)

Any ideas about to problem and what should I do?

Is it perhaps not on the proper workgroup/domain? Maybe it isn't connected.

What about Client for Microsoft Networks and File/Printer sharing? Maybe something is disabled there?

This is a lil confusing but lets see.

If you are on the university then you are assigned IP through DHCP unless for some odd reason they assigned static IPs to each network drop.

If you try to ping another computer and it times out that means the computer might be off or echo might be turned off. Some universities would actually turn off ICMP that way people wont ping or use all the nifty tools that can be used to hack at the same time or flood the network pipe.

Moving along, if you can connect to the internet but you cannot browse the LAN, then chances are you dealing with User rights issues. Contact your sys admin.

Since you are able to access the internet but not the LAN try renewing your IP on your system. Since you are in a univ and you get the IP through a DHCP they might restrict the access of an IP to communicate with other systems. You need to contact your Network Administrator.
