The other day, the American president met with a group he calls the coalition of the willing. Or, as the rest of the world calls them, Britain and Spain.

They all want out, I'm guessing. Military representation of the rest amounts to a handfull compared to America's participation. It sure looks like the old "rats deserting a sinking ship".America's probably going to have to shoulder the burden of this fiasco all by themselves.

Ok Tongas 45 troops left 12/04 and I dont think panama has troops there anymore. Lets just face it The united states is the only nation that has a large number of troops there and thats how it will stay. After all we are the only country building the largest Military base in that country. No other country has anything to lose there than us. I just hope it ends soon it really is a disaster!I feel so bad for all the innocent lives that have been taken with no end in site.

It is not a far fetched idea that the members of the coalition will pull out at one point in time or another. Remember history, only the people of a nation mired in civil war, of which Iraq is in real state now, will be able to resolve their raging conflict. It must be desired from within and not imposed by any other party as it is almost always short-lived in nature if it's done through the latter.

Look at Afghanistan. Is it not that there is a resurging force trying to undermine the gains of the so called "liberators"?

I doubt once Britain pulls out there will be anyone else willing to continue supporting just the US. Britain (or rather, tony blair) has been our most staunch ally. Most people don;'t even know that Panama has any troops in Iraq.
Heh, in fact, a lot of people that I know seem to think that it's only us (the US) with troops over there. It's incredible what Americans don't know.

Iraq is a highly factionalized country mired down in the muck of religion and regional bigotries. Sooner or later even the U.S. will admit that they've gotten themselves into an unwinnable situation. "Limited" wars have never worked. Korea and Vietnam are prime examples. To win a war you have to totally destroy the enemy or at least get his back up against the wall with no way out but total unconditional surrender. This, unfortunately means civilian casualties by the thousands and tens of thousands but war is never pretty or as sanitized as CNN would have you believe. Most of the casualties in WWII were civilians and a number of German and Japanese cities had been bombed into charred rubble. That's war. What's going on in Iraq and Afghanistan is a half-hearted action hamstrung by politicians who've forgotten the lessons of Vietnam.

Britain has 7,500 troops left in Iraq. The British troops are in previously secured provinces to back up the local police and Iraqi military if needed. They are non-combat troops, rather they are combat troops but not enagaged in active combat patrols.

Likewise Denmark is withdrawing it's land troops and sending a helicopter batallion instead so they can make a positive contribution to the effort. Denmark is not wirthdrawing.

Firstly contrary to what you may believe.
Unfortunately 'Great Britain' IS NOT LEAVING IRAQ!
It is reducing the number of it's force by 1,600. from this 'Illegal War'
Which was the brainchild of :-Your 'President George Bush' and his lapdog "Tony Blair" whom to date has not yet attended the return of any of the caskets containing the remains of a British serviceman/woman killed in action or by so called American "Friendly fire" whilst serving in Iraq.
This total lack of concern and respect displayed by the political leader of the U.K. has angered the 'Hoi-Polloi' who in the main wish that 'Blair' had stayed well away from deciding to back the U.S.A.
As a result "Tony Blair" is now a political Lame-Duck and will be out of office by July 2007 when hopefully all of our troops can be returned to 'Legal Duties'.

They aren't exactly pulling out. Britain is doing it on a time table. Which other nations will be doing as well.
