Personally, I liked the GC one more. The holidays were more interesting and less repetitive, the four people who played didn't have to share the same house, the town seemed a whole lot bigger, and you don't have to worry about the battery dying on you.
Of course, with all that said, the DS did have some better features (hair salon is one of 'em).

Animal Crossing DS. You can play with people in Japan, The UK, and Brazil so there really isn't a choice, the DS version is way sweeter

GC because its better but the ds has alot newer things on them
