The reason that society says that it is wrong (and other activates such as gambling) is that is potentially upsets accepted social order. Thing how bad it would be if a working class man became rich by playing Poker – he may not want to work for 18 hours down he pit! Prostitution has the same affect. Why would a man want to sleep with his saggy, middle aged nagging wife when he could sleep with an 18 year old bombshell for the price of a pair of shoes. Laws are designed for the lowest common denominator and conceptions that people have a sense of loyalty to their partners in not even considered. As long as your conscience is clear and the woman is not being forced it then fill your boots.

You mean morally wrong?
I can think of 2 different ways,

If you are married it would be adultery, a mortal sin.
That would be pretty bad.

If unmarried, it would be fornication, a venial sin.
Not so bad, at least there's not a commandment specifically against it.

I get your point about vacuum of sexual repression, but the problem is that prositution tends to draw in a whole array of seedy characters, drug use, HIV, etc. It's a bad scene.

I'd say because you are paying money to someone who wants to forget about you the moment you leave. How can it ever be satisfying to have sex with someone who doesn't even like you?

Then again, people who visit prostitutes have no self-respect anyway.

If you need to ground your sexual energy because it is making you antsy, masturbation is a much better alternative to a prostitute.

It is degrading to be someone who has fallen through every safety net society provides and has to resort to selling their own body for cash. It is also degrading to be someone who cant get laid without turning it into a product and transaction.

Having said that though if prostitution was regulated by the state it would be much safer for all involved.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong to visit prostitutes, what I don't understand is the pre-historic attitude towards legalisation in this country. It is pointless to say "its wrong", its going to happen anyway. What we, as a society, should be doing is lobbying the government to allow legal prostitution, the terrible murders in Suffolk should be enough evidence to show that the women who work in this industry need protection. Even from a mans point of view, wouldn't they prefer to go to a prostitute that is safe, tested for disease, etc? As someone who considers herself a feminist, I think it is our responsibility as women to ensure that women who work as prostitutes have the right to be safe.

Thats what I think!

It's not wrong....but l reckon it's better to find chicks by yourself. Put on your best personality, go into bars, make friends with guys and girls, score with as many women as you can, be heaps playful and foolish, and when you're done being the fool, retire to a quiet part of town with all the phone numbers of the chicks you met. They'll wanna keep seeing you. Worked 4 me. A lot of guys want to bash the crqap outta me though.

Because God said it is a sin and man said it is against the law. But it is ones own choice to do so. I just think that it is a dangerous and gross. How does it feel to be called Mr 5000th customer of the year. The thought is just sickening to me. But, go if you must just don't cry when the hooker steals your wallet and her pimp beats you up and her crack pipe gets left under your car seat and your private starts burning.

If it keeps you sane go for it man. What's the point in spending your life walking around with so much pent up sexuality. Testosterone is a dangerous chemical in large quantities

Basically it should be legalised. There is nothing 'wrong' with it. There would be no problem if society accepted it and then the girls would be safe. Right now its all corrupt and people should be discouraged from sleeping with prostitutes
