Just tell them why you can't be friends anymore.
Sometimes you just want to break up with your friends.

Never tell anyone you cannot be friends with them anymore but stop your communication would let them know that the friendship has ended or will end.

Pick an appropriate moment if you feel you can't tell them to their face for various reasons phone and tell them you can't and your reason for this,if however they won't accept this then politely tell them goodbye and don't accept their calls anymore and just try avoiding them until they learn to accept it and good luck.

Why tell them at all? If you really have reason to not be friends with them, you won't need to speak to them about it. Speaking to them will cause them to possibly need to try to resolve the situation. If you don't want them to resolve it, just turn your back on them.
Make sure you have got your facts correct though. Or you may regret losing that friend.

just tell them.
i was friends with one girl for 3 years, and she was awful to me. i couldn't be her friend anymore, and that was that. i couldn't be stomped on anymore. so, i walked up to her and said: i don't think we can be friends anymore, hilary. she gave me a mean look, b/c i had my sister's friends behind me. she walked off, and she was definitely mad. i don't regret it at all, though, b/c i was a good friend to her, and she didn't return the favor. i know you might not want to hurt their feelings (neither did i), but you just have to tell them and get it over with.

Be considerate of their fellings ut be honest. Give them reason but dont plead a case. And set it in stone- let them know that you are standing on that decision.

Just tell them that you have decided to end the friendship, then walk away.There is no sense dragging it on and on.BLUNT--painless.
