That really depends on a number of factors. There's a big difference between 13 and 19. Choose a song that's more appropriate for your age. You also need to choose a song that shows off your vocal range. Make sure the director knows what notes you're capable of hitting (or belting). Try to choose a song that lets you show off a bit of your acting ability. A character song will usually accompliush this. Make sure you show that you've got a sense of humor. Take your audition seriously - but not yourself! Most important of all - choose a song that you like. That way you have a better chance to show the director who you are, you'll be better able to remember the lyrics, and you'll enjoy yourself more.

A final tip! Take the director something to remember you by. A cup of coffee, a candy bar, a sharpened pencil. The director has to choose from a lot of people who are auditioning. After a while everybody starts to sound and look the same. A little gift will help him/her remember that you're the one who stands out.

I've auditioned people for a lot of shows. Be different! Your audion song doesn't have to be from a Broadway show. Please don't do a song that's normally sung by a senior citizen! You'll look foolish. Try stuff from Rent, Oliver, Falsettos (Jason), Music Man, Merrilly We Roll Along,

Break a leg!!!

Ooh, since you said "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown", why not do "My Blanket and Me" or "Suppertime" (my second favorite after "My Philosophy")? Or maybe "Razzle Dazzle" from "Chicago". Just some thoughts, I really wish I could think of more for you. If it's comedy, maybe you could perform something from "Spamalot." ;)

Cheers!
