I am not really suicidal, but I just want to say forget everything and forget my job, my family, everything. I have been on depression medication for a while and they seemed to be working, but I still have this attitude about life. It just seems to me that life is a lot of work and I just want to give up. Can anyone help?

Have enough cash with you? Go on a holiday, spend lotsa money and you'll forget the stress for the moment till you're ready to face them again...

If you aint enough cash, turn to the Lord our Saviour...

Believe it or not, a lot of people, maybe even most people, have felt like that at one time or another. We wonder, what's the use? We're born, we live a life of pain and grief, then we die. Why should we continue? Well, while all that's true, in between the moments of pain and grief, there are many moments of joy and happiness: a baby's smile, a garden full of colourful flowers, a beautiful sunrise/sunset, joking around with one's family and friends. All these things, and many others, make life worth living. Whenever you feel down, just think about all the blessings in your life. You said you have a family and a job? Good for you! Many people in the world don't even have that! If you're a religious person, you might try turning to prayer. It helps. It also helps to talk with a trusted friend or family member about your feelings. Whatever you do, hang in there. As the old saying goes, "It's always darkest before the dawn."

I have actually come across someone after my own heart. In 2002 I felt like giving up. In fact, I did. I took a fourteen inch Ginsu knife and stuck it in all my major organs in alphabetical order. Since then I've been on anti-depressant medications, took a blade and in October of 2006 did it again-only this time I split both of my arms wide open, spent two weeks in the psychiatric unit before going to a VA hospital in Philadelphia for three weeks, and if all this isn't enough, I've lost my job, my family, and all self-esteem. Believe it or not, through all of this I've been fortunate enough to identify the source of all this self-directed sel-hatred: it seems I repressed very horrible memories of being sexually molested by my grandfather, two uncles, and an aunt at a very young, tender age. I'm not sure if any of this is helping you, but the point is that if I can die twice in one night for a total of thirteen minutes and go through all this other stuff besides starting back to college as an English major, I offer you the truth that there is light at the end of whatever tunnel you are in right now. I don't know you or anything about you other than the question you've asked, but I'm 45 and that light at the end of my tunnel is getting brighter all the time. Thank God it isn't another freight train.

Was there a circumstance involved in bringing you to this place in your life or did it just come about? Do you have children? Are there financial hardships?

I've been down your road a few times too.. The best advice I could give you at this point is to visit or volunteer at a nursing home or cancer clinic. For me, I found a homeless dude and put him up in a shelter and got him a job helped him get a valid ID so he could get and keep housing and a job. In the end - I failed to address his alcoholism, but the feeling of helping someone else who had it far worse than me in effect helped me also.

No matter how bad we think we got it, there's some folks out there who have it twice as bad who can really serve to inspire us
with their positive outlooks despite their situation.

My father passed away from Brain Cancer Feb 25 2005, so this is year number two I've been horribly depressed at this time.. My mother also had a brain tumor, and has serious mental issues.

If you are able to overcome these feelings, one of the ways you may be able to keep yourself in check is by offering advice to others in similar situations..

Keep your family close to heart, and all the important things in perspective.. Even if you lack encouragement and support from friends and family, you can get through this.

I sure have been there, just the other day I posted a stupid question on how to curse someone, I am also sick of being the good person all of the time, and getting screwed over in life. but then when I get that low I just look in my child's eyes and I see all the love I need, and I have to keep on going and fighting for her. maybe you aren't depresses but really stressed out. I know I get anxiety attacks from the stress, maybe you can discuss these feelings with your doctor then he can change your meds. But I truly understand where you are coming from.

I know this can be hard, I don't have a great answer for you but I do recommend you to talk to people. Maybe get a way for a weekend or something, but don't run from your problems, believe me it's totally not the answer; I've tried that one too many times. I don't really have any friends now but I do like to help people so yeah. Just don't run away from your problems. Find someone to talk to and follow your heart! I hope this helps a bit. ~Alison~

Yes dear!

I too come across such type of feeling, lot many times.
That is only because you are not compatible with (make it positive) present competitive world.
Because you are not getting 'S U C C E S S '(? !) with present world, that's why, you are getting to this type of feeling. This is not bad with you; simply you are not suitable to competitive edge. Only because you are easy going and not involving seriously with your work / job (I mean '! employment' i.e. what you are doing @ that time). It is not a bad practice. Don't think about the fruits of your karma.

All the best.

You need an interest, a hobby, something that is challenging in your life. Whether it be collecting stamps, learning a musical intrument or a new trade. Also helps to have friends and do things outside the house.

We all go throught that at one point!
the only thing i can personally say to you is Change first befor the world makes you change it's easier on you!
second life is work it sucks but if you stop worring about that free hand out you do deserve and just work for your goals then you should be fine!
speaking of which what are your goals? do they move you? if they don't then you need to make some goals and dreams that get you on the edge of your set! your goals you will work towards and if the goal is reall to you and painted nicely then you will WANT to work for it!
took me a while to get out of my depression but it's a choice..
here is what i did!
Coping.org <-- helped me a lot with just life issues and help me gain insight on who I really am!
Thinktq <- i never bought the programs cuz i like my money in my pocket lol but they do have a sort of free thing for a few months and if you change your e-mail ever 45 days it's basically free enought to help you at least!
bestyearyet.com <-- helped me with goal setting and getting things in a plan form.. Yes i still struggle with my "work" but i realize my goals change a lot and it's allowed i just have to change my lifestlye mind set to go with that goal and not the last one! :)
43things.com just a fun site that helped me do fun things in my life!

Over all make goals and work for them that free hand out will come i swear it! but first you have to build credit if you will by working it out and challanageing yourself.. Best of luck!

Remeber tons of peeps go through this every day!
I tried drugs,,, i tried meditation <-- sort of works too!
but over all it's a mindset you need to get yourself in a positive healthier mindset and that depressoin will go away!
trust me!

"are you up for the challenge" -- if you have the money or time to wait for me to find my copy of this book you should read it!
it's been 6 months I have stopped smoking started working out i eat healthy and it's work but I'm doing it and i'm so proud of my self and what i can do in 6 months!

check out the site envision-u.com <-- simular that's where the book is from!
had to read it for work!
so glad i did!
