The age of a hamster depends on the type. Drawf hamsters only live 1-2 years while normal hamsters which get about 3 inches bigger can live from 3-7 years.
Hamsters also need hard chew toys and a wheel. Hamsters teeth never stop growing so they don't get infected they must chew. I recommend Hamsteroids. Both mine and my friends hamsters love them. They also need a wheel or a ball for exercise.Overweight hamsters can have heart problems.

Normally a hamster lives to be 3 years old although if taken care of properly they will live longer. Mine lived 5 and lmost to 6 years before they died of old age.
Doggy Milk Bones are good for them...It helps keep their teeth gnawed down so they can eat properly.
Don't forget the litter.
Salt rock is good for them too.
They also need a wheel to run in...without a wheel the hamster may die for not getting the proper exercise.
A hamster ball is fun to have.

Hamsters live about 2-3 years. You need bedding (pine...NOT cedar because it will hurt them...or paper shavings is a good bedding as well). Also a wheel for it to run on for exercise. Salt or mineral wheels are very important for their nutrition. So- a cage, food, water, bedding, a wheel, salt or mineral treats or wheels. Good luck!

hamsters live about 2-3 yrs. hamsters also need wood to chew on to wear there teeth down, and things to crawl through. also little houses or shelters for them to sleep in, and a wheel. anything that looks fun for them. go to your pet store and see what you can find.
