I assume that you are referring to the American Revolutionary war.

October 19 1781, Gen. Cornwallis Surrender his troops to Washington at Yorktown. The surrender caused the king to loose the support of Parliament. British troops still garrisoned New York, Savannah, and Charleston, but major military action was ended and the British did not launch any campaigns against the colonist who continued to train and prefect the Continental army.
The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, officially ending the war, and the United States Congress ratified the treaty on January 14, 1784. The last British troops left New York City on November 25, 1783.
