Been watching a bit too much detox tv and thinking of giving this a go. Apparently it makes your skin lovely! Does it hurt? Is it horrible? Am I mad for even considering it?

erm excuse me for being graphic.... but here goes.. water is pumped in and out of you slowly...... it feels nothing short of feeling like you need to go (if you get me) whilst they are doing it..... It makes you feel a little light headed after.... but nice..

It usually takes about 3/4 days for the effects to show (or it did for me anyway)... it didnt make my skin any better..... but it did make me feel better and not as bloated

I did them for someone with cancer years ago and conferred with other natural health practitioners about colonics, too. I also had one before that to see what it was like. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing, but not painful. The water inside feels like a bad case of diarrhea coming on...

I didn't notice any changes in my skin.

I would recommend doing herbal colon cleanses instead of colonics. They have the same result without the unpleasant feeling. They can also tone the colon along with removing toxins.

I've heard colonics can be dangerous, too, but I don't know how true that is.

NO but if what i read on here a few days ago when John Wayne died he could have lost 44Lbs with a colon irrigation then maybe (although I've always thought it unnecessary) it may be something to consider so go ahead Louise if you feel you want to and no i don't think your mad everyone to their own thing

It is LIKE you putting a garden hose up your backside and turning on the tap, expect in controlled surroundings and practised by a trained professional.
I know people who have sworn by it and i have considered it, but my herbalist recommends coffee enemas instead as it doesn't go up as far nor remove any of the protective stuff from the wall of the colon.
The end product would probably taste like Starbuck's coffee, but i wouldn't recommend anyone drank it.

It is nothing more than a big enema. Keep in mind the body is really a self cleaning unit, it does not contain toxins or whatever. This is an excellent snake oil treatment designed to relieve you of your money more than anything else. A healthy diet with plenty of fiber would be a better choice.
