She was being abused and she died. Makes me cry every time, cause my grand daughters name is Alyssa too.

The little girl dies because she never told anyone what was going on. In the song the dad of the little girl is going to do something but, he is too late because when he goes to school on Monday he hears the news that the little girl is dead. It also metions everyone is sad and his little girl wants to know why so he says to her this next lines

because theres nothing anyone would do.

Omg this song makes me cry. Listen to it again. It says "Alyssa lies with Jesus, because theres nothing anyone would do" Since everyone kept their mouths shut about her bruises, she mustve finally got beaten so badly she died.

Near the end of the song it says "Alyssa lies...with Jesus..." - That makes me think that she died at the end of the song.
