Estimates from CBS have placed U.S. military spending in the Middle East at $100,000 per minute. Where else could the U.S. be spending this money? Or how could our military force be better utilized?

We all already know the answer to that one. Why, the money could have been used here at home of course. What gets me is that our troops are STILL sadly lacking re body armour, vehicles, etc. This just shows me that Bush does not care about these troops. To him, they are expendable because if they die, they die as heroes and that's enough for him. I would be far more acceptable if the troops were better taken care of. It does not impress me that the U.S. has so many new and promising "prosthetic" devices (artificial legs, arms, hands, etc) because if most who are now using these things had had the proper equiment, they would not be constrained to the use of them. The fact is that far more money is being funneled to crooked Halliburton and Bechtel and Cheney. The needs of the troops are at the bottom of the pile.

This money could be spent taking care of the people that made this country what it was, Strong! There are many vets out there that can't afford a place to live, or medicine that they need.
It could also be used to balance the budgets of the Country, or States in this Country.
It could feed the poor in this country. Stop making senior citizens choose between food or medicine.

There are so many things in this country that are lacking. Where do I start, access to affordable health care for the 45 million that have no coverage, education, help for needy families, So much money is being wasted that could do so much good for the people here in our country that, especially when you find out that this war was based on lies.

Our military could be used along our southern border for one.. stop the illegal aliens from tripling each year in this country.
And the money.. well, the money could be used for hospitals, schools . homes for the poor.. aid for the poor.. job creation.. the list goes on and on... It could be used for the citizens of this country. We ignore our own and spend to build up another country that will likely one day turn on us, no matter how much money we give them. They do not want to be like us, they do not want democracy shoved down their throats. They want their own lives and they will not thank us for coming there and ruining their country and getting millions of them killed. Think about it! Would you want them to be doing this to us.
It is time the US and its runaway government stopped trying to save the world and looked after saving its own. It is just stupid this Iraq war.
I am not saying we shouldn't help when help is asked for.. and there are many countries that are asking for it.. but to invade just to appease ones father is a little too much for the American public to have to bear.

Cut the military in half......close all international bases. Bring remaining military personel home to defend are borders and ports. Use money saved to drop taxes on low income families and research into alternative fuel. Recreate the education system. Overhaul medicare medicaid. Force hospitals into alleviating pressure on low income families unable to pay for healthcare.(trust me...i work in a hospital and its just plain said what we do to other human beings) Abolish all government "extraciricular" activities. I don't need to pay secret service to accompany bush to the ranch in texas for an entire month. I don't need to pay for a jumbo jet to take all 90lbs of nancy pelosi back to sacramento. I should have to pay for darth vaders halliburton contracts. I'm sick of the abuse.

This money could be spent on education, technology for eliminating greenhouse gasses, public transportation, programs for the arts, health care, and improving the American standard of living.

Why does the money have to be spent? Why not return it to the taxpayers and let them decide how to spend their money!!
