Why is it over the past few years that riders (self proclaimed "bikers") feel a need to congregate at the local coffee shop after ridden a whopping 4 miles. They stand around outside and admire themselves. They will talk endlessley about the latest chrome thingy that they had installed. Their leathers have no bugs on them and they shine like a newborns baby bum. God forbid that a cloud might appear while they are sipping their cappucino. Run for home, gonna be a long four miles back to the garage, but they will have a new "war story" to brag about at the next charity run. To those riders out there that ride not to impress or boost your ego but ride to ride, well my hats off to you. Long gray haired biker.

And don't forget they only ride on the weekends or a quick little jaunt after work. I don't hang around with the likes of the people you described. You forgot about the part of their vests....they put a H.O.G. patch on look out man! I'm an outlaw....sure...
They are everywhere riding everything with two wheels now. The new movie coming out called Wild Hawgs will only make it worse.Nobody waves anymore, stops to help, etc. And when they are riding around in their big pickups & SUV's don't forget about the H-D sticker.
There's plenty of wind and other roads to capture my freind....ride the road less travelled. FTW

Oh just shut up and ride and ignore the posers. Is it any hair off your asss what they do? Why does it bother you so much, I got no time for them. Really chaps yer hide I can tell, and WHY?? YOU are the real biker? YOU deserve all the attention and praise? You're so great, go cruising past the Starbucks and MOON the bastards and throw a few empty beer cans at 'em (that you emptied enroute) and get em to chase ya then dust their asss. There. Would that make you feel any better? Let 'em have their chip-free paint and bugless leather. Big frickin' deal.......

sounds like you may be just a little on the jealous side.......4 miles or 4 hours if you can ride you should take the chance and go......a lot of times i ride to the tanning bed.....that may take me 4 mins. to get to so does that make me any less biker just cause you don't like the time!!!!! Biker is a way of life, it is something that is in your heart and if you are not in that group you would never understand any way......

I ride my Harley every day but to answer your question it is recreational.
So they are weekend fair weather posers and not hard core bikers, big deal.
It doesn't bother me unless they start acting condescending about it.
There are worse things than having a big motorcycle and riding around with your friends?
Like not having one!

You guys that keep brewing up this question over and over again are idiots.

Thats point number one.

Everything you just said applies to every single BRAND of motorcycle that exists.

Its not just a "HARLEY" thing.

I've seen guys "PARKIN" on any number of brand of motorcycles.

The difference is, the guys "parkin" those Harley's just have deeper pocket-books.

I ride mine. I love to ride. Some people don't love to ride, they just wanna shine 'em up - and love some coffee instead.

But what you are implying is that just about everyone is a poser.

I mean, WTF is up with these kids in the parks playing basketball? They're not in the NBA, they're such posers.

Thats the kind of thinking that makes some people "special".

Like you.

The guys you are seeing are RUBS they are in no way bikers. I am a biker and proud of it. Personally I wish HD would have gone down the tubes in the '70s. Then we wouldn't have to put up with this BS. One of these days these types will find new toys though and there will be lots of bikes for the real bikers among us. BTW-cavebyrd, very well said.

for years they used to hate us, now they try to be just like us.to us it's a way of life, to them it's something they slip into when it's convienent. most of "those" people don't know how to change their own oil let alone tear their bike down and rebuild it. 20,000 dollars and 20 miles doesn't make you a biker.

we refer to that crowd as hell's dentists.
most of us sport riders like the true bikers its the statis symbol bikers that annoy us
just because you have the bike doesn't automatically give you the image
