i have been in love with kerala and its scenic beauties....
but to find such a place which you have mentioned ...i wld say theres no such place..
if yu want the cool environment of a hill station go towards idukki...and backwaters in allepy....really cool places....and in kerala yu dont have to worry abt traveling..its so well conneced...
i like wayanad too..its beautiful...

Shanghumugham Beach : The beach is located 8 kms from Thiruvananthapuram city and is adjacent to the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. It is a favourite spot of sunset watchers. A 35 mt long sculpture of a matsya kanyaka is the main attraction of Shanghumugham. Another one is a starfish shaped restaurant.

Akkulam Lake : Akkulam Lake is situated 3 kms away from Ulloor junction, in Thiruvananthapuram city and is only 10 kms away from the Central Railway Station. The spot is developed on the banks of Aakkulam Kayal (lake), which is an extension of the Veli Kayal (lake). There is a tranquil picnic spot on the banks of the Akkulam Lake. Akkulam is a place of great scenic beauty with a picturesque lake. There is a boat club with over dozens of boats, available for joy riders. The children's park here is one of the biggest in Kerala.

Trivandrum Backwaters : The extensive backwaters of Trivandrum provide the picturesque view of a paradise. The lagoons, lakes, canals and rivers are lined up with dense tropical vegetation on either side. It is a breathtaking bout to experience a solitary and calm glide through this network of waterways. The backwaters form an attractive and economically valuable feature of Kerala. They include lakes and ocean inlets, which stretch irregularly along the coast. The biggest backwater is the Vembabad Lake, some 200 sq kilometers in area, which opens out into the Arabian Sea at Cochin port. The Periyar, Pamba, Manimala, Achenkovil, Meenachil and Moovattupuzha rivers drain into this lake. Veli, Kadhinamkulam, Anjengo (Anju Thengu), Edava, Nadayara, Paravoor, Ashtamudi (in Kollam Dist.) Kayamkulam, Kodungallur (in Trissur Dist) and Chetuva are some of the other places where you may go for backwater cruising. The backwaters of Kerala stretch over 1900 Kilometers, providing drinking water and irrigation facilities.

Thiruvallam Backwaters : This serene backwater stretch, located 8 Kms from Kovalam towards Trivandrum, is famous for its canoe rides. Thiruvallam is the meeting point of two rives- Killi and Karamana. A temple dedicated to Parashurama, the legendary founder of Kerala, is located here.


a) Veli tourist Village(8 km from Thiruvananthapuram City) : The Veli Tourist Village is sandwiched between the Veli Lagoon and the Arabian Sea. The lagoon here is separated from the sea by a narrow sand bar. Facilities at the village include water sports in the lagoon and 18 acre waterfront park with a floating bridge that connects the village to the beach.


b) Akulam Boat Club(8 km from Thiruvananthapuram City) : This is a very popular picnic spot with boating facilities on the lake and a children's park with a swimming pool.

Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary : The Neyyar reservoir is easily navigable and extends 9.06 sq. km. The vegetation varies from tropical wet evergreen to grasslands. The Agasthyakoodam hill, 1890 metres high, lies in the premises of the sanctuary. Elephants, gaur, sloth bear, Nilgiri tahr, jungle cat, wild boar, Nilgiri langur etc. are seen. A crocodile rearing centre, deer farm and lion safari park are the main attractions. The vegetation varies from tropical wet evergreen to grasslands. The Agasthyarkoodam hill, 1890 metres high, lies in the premises of the sanctuary. Declared as a sanctuary in 1958, it is the drainage basin for the Neyyar River and its tributaries - Mullayar and Kallar.

Kombaikani and Meenmutti Waterfalls : These are two magnificent waterfalls on the upper reaches of the Neyyar Reservoir. A trek of 2 kms through dense forests, would take one to Meenmutti waterfalls and a further 2 kms, to the Kombaikani waterfalls. The waterfalls and forecasts around them are worth experiencing.

By Air : Trivandrum Airport (International) is linked by flights to Cochin, Madras, Delhi, Goa and Bombay.

By Rail : There are trains from many places. There are about seven trains a day from Thrissur.

By Road : Long distance buses depart from the Central Bus Station (KSRTC, Thampanoor bus terminal).

Climate : The climate of Thiruvananthapuram like the rest of Kerala can be classified as in equatorial type of climate. It is hot and humid but in comparison to other inland cities, the ocean makes the climate quite pleasant. From June to Sept. it experiences torrential rains brought by the monsoon clouds. However from October to February, the climate remains relatively dry and cool.
