1. Kingdom Hearts II - Great story, amazing detail, Disney and Final Fantasy characters, fantastic music.
2. Kingdom Hearts - Same as above
3. Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal - Amazing designs of Planets, cool weapons, contains probably the funniest PS2 villain ever - Dr. Nefarious!
4. Jak 3 - The best game of the series in terms of story, look, characters, twists and the finale to end all finales.
5. Destroy All Humans 2 - There's something about destroying L.A. and London that makes this game very addictive. The characters Crypto 138 and Orthopox 13 have some very funny moments as well.

1) Kingdom Hearts - A ridiculously sounding idea that turned out to be an amazing story and incredible video game. Excellent Action-RPG. Great character development, good graphics, very good control scheme.
2) Shadow of the Colossus - A very innovative idea for playing a game. Perfect blend of an action & puzzle game. Beautiful graphics and engaging plot. Loved playing it.
3) Grand Theft Auto III - Incredibly innovative for its time. A very expansive world that you can either play for the story or simply just play. Alright graphics, interesting story, and hours of replayable fun, even by today's standards. It helped create a standard for many other PS2 games.
4) Dynasty Warriors III - Simply hack and slash idea on a grand scale. You against an army, the idea is incredible and fun to play. It really helped show what the PS2 could do at the time. While not the best game in the series, it is one of my favorites.
5) Fatal Frame II - An incredibly frightening game. Sad but still good story. Engaging gameplay and puzzle solving. Very good graphics and excellent at establishing atmosphere.

My no. 1 game is God of War, because of blood, gore, and intense violence. Plus its simulated towards Mythology stories.
No. 2 on my list will be Blitz the League. I like this game because it's more down to earth compared to other football games. Other than having no rules in this games, it shows how football players lives are really like. Things like rivalries, winning bets, training your team right, and the reactions the players in certain parts of the game.
The 3rd game on my list is Guitar Hero. I was never really a rock fan to began with, but when I started playing this game, it lets me appreciate rock music. It's funny how one game can make you like rock music.
No. 4 would be Tekken 4. I like Tekken 4 better than 5 because its more realistic. For example, on the Underground stage, there are people surrounding and watch you fight. I can actually hit people in the background. Plus there some good storylines for each character.
Last but not least, no. 5 would be NBA Ballers Phenom. This one was fun, because you get to do other things besides just playing basketball in the story mode. For example, enter freestyle battles, put up posters, collect diamonds, shop at a variety of stores, do trivia, and even enter a spelling bee. The only reason I put this at no. 5 because it get really difficult in the middle of the game. So difficult that it's frustrating

Well, I have played few of them, but here is my highly biased answer to your question!
Grand Theft Auto, Vice City, and San Andreas. (that counts as two). I know these games have gotten a lot of negative attention b/c they are violent and *gasp* have implied sexual situations. But they simply really fun! My favorite part is driving the various cars around (and off cliffs or large jumps, whenever possible). I don't enjoy the violent parts of the game to any great extent, nor does it bother me. It's just a game. I'm old enough to realize it's a game and to not project it on my real life. It's interesting to play the part of a bad element of society to see how it plays out. It's roleplaying. But I mainly like smashing up the cars. Ha! I don't play this much anymore, though, because my son is old enough to understand what's going on (he's 4).
Katamari -- This is a weird Japanese game where you roll a sticky ball around various places (apartments, houses, cities, anywhere) and pick up objects. As your ball grows, you can pick up larger objects. Your mission is usually to get the ball as big as possible in a certain amount of time. It's pretty fun once you're big enough to pick up people, animals, cars, etc... It's a cartoonish game, so it's not like you're smashing and killing people. Try this one out -- it's pretty fun! There are at least two versions of the game. The one I have is "Katamari Damaci" or something.
Simpson's Road Rage -- You're basically driving around performing taxi-duties for the denizens of Springfield. It's fun, 'nuff said.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Kingdom Hearts games. They're odd, but fun. You get to play a whole slew of Disney characters.
