I placed a carbon fiber plate on my motorcycle triple clamp as a protection from key scratches with 3M VHB (very high bond tape) and would like to remove it. And before anyone suggests to call 3M, I tried and waited forever on customer service. Thanks.

The product you speak of is designed for permanent mounting, but NOT to create a permanent bond - weird, I know... It is part of their 'industrial molecular bonding' line. Anyway, if it is stuck to the stainless of your clamp, then you can use something that won't scratch the clamp to pry one small part of it up. Apply a prying pressure and maintain pressure. It will slowly start to unstick. Then, to make it easier, put a couple of drops of Goo-Gone into the small opening you've made and continue to exert a lifting force. Clean up any residue (and there usually isn't any) on the clamp with Goo-Gone when you're done. Voila!

How To Remove 3m Tape

The first thing I would try, which has been successful for me in the past is to saturate a cloth with straight ammonia and apply it to the area. You might have to wrap something around it to secure it. Do this in a warm area it will work quicker. After about an hour remove it and then wipe do not scrape unless you can achieve it with a plastic knife or something. If that isn't the answer than alternately try using regular vinegar the same way. Good Luck!

Goo Gone works really well too, but don't use it to clean off any leftover adhesive on plastic, because it can damage the surface a bit. I'd advise using a different cleaner once the tape is removed.

Try soaking the tape in GooGone available at Home Depot. It usually works.

Blow dryer and a thumb nail, followed by a mild solvent( WD 40 or paint thinner) . any residual can be removed with a mild polish like white polising compound, auto cleaner and wax, bug +tar remover or semi chrome polish.
