If you're actually asking what causes your mouth to water, we have 2 salivary glands in our mouths-1 on the roof of the mouth and another under the tongue. When we smell or think about food signals from the brain cause the body to 'get ready' for food, even if you're not going to eat. You also start creating more digestive juices (called enzymes) ready to break down the food that your brain thinks you will be eating. People say that their mouths water by looking at an attractive woman etc, but this isn't true as yo don't eat people (at least I hope not!) in the sense that you eat food, so your body wouldn't need to be ready to digest them!

actually your phrenic nerve...it works your breathing as well as your saliva glands. With your mind also playing a role its kinda like telling your arm to move and then you move it..your nerves sense your thinking of food or a certain smell in the air will trigger your mouth to prepare it to water the food to help guide its way down south...
