Dell computers are fine machines if you take care of them. Get a good anti-spy-ware, anti-virus, and firewall applications are run them.
Dell have good deals and specials you can get at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html
Good luck.

I have a Dell computer, actually I am using one right now. It is fairly new, I got it lastyear. This is the first time for me owning a Dell and the last time it will be. Dells tend to give you a lot of problems, even when you buy it brand new from straight off of the factory line. DON'T buy a Dell. There is a reason why they are fairly inexpensive because you pay less for less quality. Think about buying a Vaio or something, it might be a little more expensive but you are paying for better quality.

I have heard nothing but bad things about dell. Its more than getting a good warranty, we store tons of info on our computers, how much of a headache are you willing to deal with?
When I was in the Navy I found this E-machines computer for $300 in San Diego, I purchased it in 2003. I only had 1 issue with it, and as part of the standard 1 yr warranty, they sent me a pre paid box to put my pc in to have shipped off, they fixed it, returned it, and I never paid a dime! Tech support was great to....Still have my little e-machine computer, and according to www.pcpitstop.com, im still running at about %50 of what the population is running now. So im just hitting the "middle spot" after 4 yrs, not bad!

Depends on what you wan the PC for?
If you want it for gaming it should have a lot of GB in the hard Drive, around 200 G's or more
A lot of RAM memory, 1 G or more
And a very good video card, NOT an INTERGRAED onIf you call Dell don't beleive what the operator tells you they try to hype up bad pc's
If you want it for general use just buy one in your price range and get a complete set with a monitor and speakers and everything.

There is nothing wrong with Dell PCs i m using since3 years.
But there is one thing you should be care full is the Processor.
I would suggest never buy a PC from any company with celeron processor and apart from usual stuff always check the cache memory which must be 1GB or above .
At present my processor is Pentium D 2.8 2x1Mb cache and it is very fast but currently there are lot more fast processors available

I don't know what the people above me are talking about. How about this... Purdue university uses ONLY dell. That 2500 computers... and Purdue only gets the best because its a university. DELL is the BEST computer for the money...by far! If these stats are not good enough for you then I don't know what is.
Get it a Dell.

They are good computers, but they are made with cheaper parts (which is why they are cheaper computers). If you do get one, be sure to get the good warranty with it, their warranty support is great.

It isn't so much their computers as their technical support. If you want any technical support, you better learn Hindi, or Urdu, or Pak . . .
