Winners never quit = quiters never win, they give up before it's even a possibility
But if you have already won and you keep gambling, you are pushing your luck .... so, quit while you are ahead

Knowing when to stop is a key to winning, or keeping money in your pocket for that matter. You can only get so far ahead, take too much of an advantage it might blow up in your face and be more of a pain than a beneficial risk.

that is a term used mostly in reference to casinos I have never met many winners in life who made vast fortunes and fame by a casino unless they are the owner in short winners that never quit will be losers at casinos unless they own it

'quit while you're ahead' is actually a gambling term. it is applicable in other areas of life though. it means if what you are doing is risky and you've managed to get ahead, stop before your luck changes. don't press your luck is another way to say it.

They say that so that you know not to get ahead of your self.Or say you are playing the lottery, they will tell you that so you don't lose more money than you all ready have.
Good enough?
