My fiancee' mother passed last month and left everything to him, a house that is paid for, and we are currently renting.
I LOVE the town and the house we are renting, but, understand that we could save alot of money if we lived in the house she left him, but, I don't like the town and feel funny living there, should we contact a realtor and have it rented out and pay our rent that way until we decide what to do down the road someday?

Is it possible you could sell his moms house, and then buy out the unit you are renting now, or at least one close to you?

If he doesnt want to do that, then you could considered renting his moms house out, and that would cover your rent. So you would be taking advantage of the free house without actually living it.

Personally, I'd take the house, assuming I still had a reasonable commute to work, school, etc. However, if I were in your shoes, I would probably see if I could sell the house and use the money from that to buy one of my own. Then you get the best of both worlds.

I say live at Moms house,BUT remodel the inside they way you want it,that way you would be more comfortable living there,Think of the money you would be saving ,no rent or house payment, people would die for that at a young age.

Sell the house, use the money to buy one where you live.
