Yes - it's shallow to judge, but you can't help who you like and you are more likely to like someone with similar tastes. I personally find it boring though if tastes are too similar - it's more fun to learn about something new from someone who has a passion for it rather than just the same thing as you. If you like a person, you can learn to like what they like by listening to what they like about it and trying something new, but if you don't like a person their thoughts about something don't matter to you.
You can't control who you like and don't like - it's a chemistry thing whether it's romance or friendship. You can control how you treat people though and you shouldn't judge or be disrespectful to people just because they have different interests or personalities that don't go with yours.

It's easier to talk to people with similar tastes...yes. We have an easier time relating that way.
I don't judge others though...everyone has a perspective and different interests.

I have been asking myself this exact question a lot lately. And, in my opinion, I think it is wrong to judge someone on their music/movie choice. My best Friend and her boyfriend have been dating for a year and have completely different tastes in music, though, they are alike in other ways. True, it is nice to have similarities with someone but everybody is stimulated by different types of music. And, likewise, everyone enjoys different types of movies.

Not exactly. I Abhor "pop-punk" but my best friend of 8 years loves it. Plus the majority of the people I work with like rap and hip-hop while I enjoy plain old rock and metal. We all get along just fine. It all boils down to how the person acts.

Usually when someone is referred to as shallow it's because they're more concerned with looks. Generally it's important to have things in common with people you intend on dating or being friends with, however I find that it's also good to have differences as well, me and my husband are almost opposites! And I couldn't imagine it any other way.
