I love my family, but plain and simple:some of them are racist.

One of my family members has admitted to not liking or trusting my boyfriend, simply because he once dated someone of his race, and that girl cheated on him.

My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year and he has always behaved with utmost respect around them and has always been good to me.

What can I do to ease this unneccesary tension?

I had a dog once that bit me and left a big scar on the back of my head. I hate that dog. But strangely I've had others that have been fine. Your family member is an idiot. Consider the source and move on.

Stand up to them. Don't be disrespectful, but tell them very clearly that you don't agree with their opinions and that as long as you or your boyfriend are around, you won't tolerate that behavior. If he's been a good guy to you and never done anything disrespectful to the family, they need to show a little respect toward him. More than that, they need to show a little respect toward you. They're entitled to their opinions, but that doesn't mean you have to tolerate it in your presence.

I have been in your situation, so I understand. Live your own life. Do what makes you happy. Life is too short to be concerned with what others think about your love life. Stay away from those who don't accept you for the decisions you make. Or, just tell them to kiss your rosy red ***!!!!!!!!! Good luck in your relationship.

I assume your boyfriend is Black. There is nothing you can do to change their ways, except , showing them that you two love each other, respect each other, and stand by each other. love conquers all!
