Painting Fiberglas is much different than painting steel, as you realize. I would discuss this with your paint supplier, and make sure you get the correct primer. One of the mistakes many people make is not preparing the raw Fiberglas properly, and making SURE there is no cleaning solvent left on or under the surface. After you have put on the primer, and before applying color, let the car sit for a few weeks, to make certain no bubbles appear from any unremoved solvent. Good luck!

You can do fiberglass the same way as you do body filler if you did
a good job on applying it. I finish it down with a final sanding of about 400 grit, cover it with primer and lightly sand. use tack cloth to remove any tiny foreign particles and paint. Piece of cake!!!!

i own a shop,an all you have to do is use epoxy primer on it,its expensive ,but that's what it was made for,and believe me it wont let go,but you cant buy this in a spray can ,it has to be sprayed from a paint gun,but it will stay on it,i use it all the time for repairing motor hoes that have been damaged,and never have any problems from it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Best to use waterproof paint. I painted my canoe with marine pain and also put a resin over top to make it stronger. Depends on what the purpose is
