Asin Thottumkal, a malayalee by birth, born on October 26, 1985 is an Indian film actress. Now a days so many actors from other states and religions have come for acting in Tamil as well as in outher languges due to advance technics like dubbing etc., Like that she has come to Tamil and she is one of the TOP artists now.
She began her career acting in minor roles as a supporting artist in the Malayalam cinema industry, while also attending an acting studio, to follow her dream to act.
The name Asin is the combination of the prefix "A" from the Sanskrit language and the word "Sin" from the English language.
It means - "Without blemish - pure".
Asin Thottumkal debuted in the Malayalam film Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad but it did not do well at the box-office. Her breakthrough as an actress came with her first Telugu language film when she played the role of a Tamil girl in the successful Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja. In Tamil her first release was M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi which was a remake of her Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. The movie went on to be one of the biggest hits in 2004 and introduced Asin to Kollywood.
Her movie Ghajini with Surya, which was released both in Tamil and Telegu, was a box office hit in both industries.
Many movies followed and Asin played opposite some popular actors in South Indian Cinema, among them Surya, Vijay, Vikram and Ajith. Her next movies include Pokiri with Vijay, Aalwar with Ajith Kumar and Dasavatharam with Kamal Haasan. Asin recently won the Filmfare Best Actress Award South for her role in Ghajini.-

Why can't she be in tamil movies. The last time i checked India is a free country and people can act in any movies they want as long as it remains legal.
