Well never seems to be a popular answer. So......you're ill with a terminal disease, have no dependents, living in constant pain......still never ?

Who has the right to say I should continue to live my life if I don't wish to ?

Suicide isn't necessarily giving up - it might be a well thought out decision in the face of a situation you can't imagine

When the pain the person feels from living is greater than the pain it would cause other people if they committed suicide. This pain can be physical or emotional.
I've been suicidal, and can understand why for some it is the only option.
What right do I have to ask someone to live a life that is that unbearable to them?
That said, the person should ensure that thier act of suicide is as least damaging as possible - don't make other people be witness to it.
I also support peoples right to choose to end their life to prevent a painful end from disease or illness and to avoid living an undignified life.
A final thought, I don't think any of us have the right to judge someone who chooses to end their life. Without having been through what they have been through, we are not able to say that they shouldn't have committed suicide. It isn't weak, pathetic or cowardly - sometimes it is the only option.

I believe if the person has had enough then so be it! It's your life at the end of the day. Sorry to sound so callous i'm a realist and always have been! I contemplated it many years ago but thankfully i didn't! It was the easy way out at the time how ever a physical thing is different your simply accelerating the end result! The said person must give suicide a long look before hand.

I got into lots of trouble in school with this one! RE lesson teacher says that suicide is cowardly my mum had just tried it so kinda close to home subject I say not at all quite brave! She says why.... The human body fights for survival says I to do something against it means fighting a primal urge to survive to be successfull without the "cry for help" thing takes courage says I try standing in front of stationary train then imagine it at seventy miles an hour would you stay still if not totally sure you don't want to be around anymore!! Being RE lesson I decide to hit the religious note life is a gift you say but pick up a paper any local will do go to the ads at back how many gifts are for sale still boxed.......... Think on it got me in trouble and visit to school shrink had to tell them bout mum etc not good day really but funny now

Anyone who has been in government for more than 5 years should be made to by law. They could put them in the big brother house and we could all vote once a week, as to who should go.We could also chose which method. There must be no wimpy overdose's.There must be lots of sharp objects left lying about. As a wild card we could also have a few mass murders in there as well as some kiddie fiddlers. So we don't have to watch people sleeping. Big brother could whisper in there ears(of the murder) that the others had been talking about them .This is bloody brilliant. I don't know how I think of this stuff. This the best bit, the winner is promised his or her life. This of course would be a complete lie, as they come out of the door, we could all be there, and stone them to death. Then they would get an idea of what its like to be lied to........................

I think it the cowards way out!!!
if you feel that way speak to a doctor and get help.
It might be easy for you to do but i feel sorry for all the people that love you when you leave them behind to try and understand why.
Try explaining to a child that finds her mothers body and calls 999 to have to be told when you get there its too late too do anything as they have full rigormortice.
Not pleasant to tell an adult let alone a child. I been there on a 999 call and i hope i never get another one like it again.
Its hard enough when its as a result of an accident.

I would say never, but there are exceptions. Such as, it would save my children's lives. But, that would also be a forced suicide, not a pre-thought one. I believe that our lives are a gift from God, and to send it back by our own free will, is like slapping God in the face. I feel sorry for people who believe this is an option to problems, when there is help out there. I wish they had the strength and mind set to go and get it before they ended their lives.

Usually never. But I would not have a problem if a child rapist took his own life.
EDIT - I think people suffering with terminal illnesses should have the right to choose.

Your idea progression is disgusting 'I from time to time ask your self why homeless human beings do not commit suicide to rid themselves of their suffering and our international of their life. ' I knew a homeless individual who made some thing of himself. it really is not any longer too late for peopel to modify their lives round.

Never, unless you're in the last stages of a terrible disease and your quality of life is over.........Maybe. Life is so hard, dying is easy. Only the survivors have to deal with it. I've lost a child and even thru that, it wasn't worth ending my life. Certainly nothing less would.
