In my experience, nice people are nice for several reasons
#1. They have had peple be mean or creul to them and they never want to make antoher person feel that way.
#2. They have a religious faith that has brought them to a place where they feel compassion and care for other people, even those they do not know.
#3. They want to help others and feel that by being nice they will win over someones trust and be in a better place to befriend them and be of help to them
For me, it's a little of all of that. I am a very compassionate and empathic person. I can feel what others feel much of the time, and I find that the feelings I get from people and the reactions I get from people are much better when I am nice and kind to them.

I'm a very nice person myself. Sometimes too nice. The reason: I like to treat people the way I want to be treated. If though I sometimes get used, I never waver, because God blesses me abundantly.
