My sister was on an inflatable raft in the ocean that started drifting out from the shore so I went in to pull it back. Swum out to her, grabbed the dingy, paddled back to shore. The part of the shoreline I got to was COVERED underwater with sharp pointy rocks, and every now and then I felt a pain shoot through one of my feet and a little blood started drifting up from under it. Couldn't move down-shore at all becuase of the strong undercurrent, so I kept going. At one point I slipped on one of the rocks and landed on both knees.

On my right knee I had a gash from the top of the kneecap to halfway down my shin, about an inch wide and pumping blood like nothing else. I panicked about it and quickly carried on to shore, in a lot of pain. When I got onto the beach and sort of flopped onto my side I saw my LEFT knee. The pain of my right had hit first and I hadn't noticed that the underside of the kneecap was split from side to side and as I bent my knee the cap was pushing the muscle almost out of the hole itself (obviously this is the point where you start feeling it)

I ended up spending 3 days in hospital due to an infection, with 2 ops on the left knee, a combined total of nearly 70 stitches in both and needing physiotherapy on my left knee for a further 2 months. According to my brother the beach looked like "a roman collaseum" due to all the blood soaked into the sand from where I carried on trying to walk with it up to the large pool of bloodied sand where I'd finally just slumped down screaming, which had a diameter of about 4ft.

My worst injury thus far was when I dislocated my shoulder a few years back. I managed to rip all the muscle on the joint as well so I couldn't pop it back in myself and then when they gave me gas and air in the hospital so I could deal with the pain I had a bad reaction and momentarily stopped breathing.

As well as this I've had my thumb slapped in a car boot (though it didn't break or fracture). I've also sliced my knee open (slipping on the floor an skidding into a shelf) and I've cut my head open falling off my bike. Oh and I've also caught Ip Jr in my flies before (that's a Christmas I'll never forget unfortunately), but I doubt that counts.

Doubt that's gross enough for you (you sadist), but I tried.

P.S

Just remember someone through a chair at my face once in High School and I had a black eye that swelled up the size of a golf ball. I've also been head butt twice with similar repercussions.

well my worst injury was probably breaking my foot.
but as for my grossest it is probably when a screw went through my arm.
when me and my sister were little we were playing on an old lawn mower and we hit a bump and i fell onto a screw (the top of it anyways) and it went right through my skin there was blood everywhere i had this big ol hole in my arm and you could even see some of the fat it had come out of my arm. when we finally got to the doctor he had to pull the skin together from my arm since there was no more skin where the hole was i am not sure how many stitches it took but now i have a cool little sunburst scar that is there forever.

My worst was a bad scald. 2nd degree burn over quite a large area. It was a freshly poured cup of tea with no milk in it, the pain knocked me to the floor and my husband was pouring cold water over me while I was lying on the floor. Then I ran into the shower and stood under the cold water...my husband rang NHS direct to see what to do and they called the paramedics and I was carted off to hospital!

I had to have a kinda fake skin stuff put over it and leave it there for weeks till it gradually came off. Loads of blistering.

I remember when my kids were young, I was always careful about hot tea etc. but I never imagined the pain could be so bad. If that had have fallen onto a child the area burned would have been even bigger and so much more serious than mine.

Now I'm paranoid about where I put my tea!

Wasn't that bad, I was 14 and a girl punched me. Totally out of no where, and she caught me totally unawares and punched me in the eye.

It really hurt, and there was blood pouring from my eye and I couldn't see. Went to the hospital, and spent about 7 hours there that night, had to see the ophthalmologist and have lots of things stuck in my eye, lots of drops put in and more poking. The scary thing was the machine that tested the pressure of your eye - it really pushes on the eyeball! Also had to see the consultant plastic surgeon to see if I'd need any surgery around the eye. Had some X-rays too, its scary having an xray done on your head!

Was in and out of the eye hospital for about a week, and after the swelling went down I could see. I've got double vision occasionally from it, and the bone under my eye got broken, but other than that I'm fine :)

To make things just that bit nastier, I picked up the worst stomach bug I've ever had while I was in the hospital! And I got suspended, even though everyone who witnessed it said that I didn't do anything to provoke it.

Later found out that the girl was just lashing out because of what was going on at home, so I'm glad I forgave her at the time.

Not really gross, but definitely the most painful. I dislocated my right knee a few years ago (29 September 2003, NOT that it still haunts me or anything!) I suffered the most excruciating pain imaginable - really intense to the point where you start to feel sick, and light headed, and you think you're gonna pass out, and then BAM! the pain intensifies until you start to feel sick again. One minute I was walking about doing some shopping with a mate, the next thing I know, I slipped and ended up on the floor in agony, looking at my knee, thinking that it looked a bit strange. I spent a couple of days in a splint, followed by a couple of months of physio.

Worst was when I had a burst appendix, which then got gangrene and nearly died, afterwards they hadn't gotten rid of all of the puss and it formed an abscess behind my bladder, the day after I had had my 9 staples out of my stomach from the original operation (so so painful) I had to go back into theatre for the abscess. I thought that would be it after I woke up but it turns out I had two 12 inch corrugated drains both ends of my wound for the puss and blood to come out which stuck my bandage to the wound. It hurt like a ***** to take it off I can tell you! After that I had 12 staples but I'm all better now!

When I was eleven I had one of those pictures where you scrape off the top surface where it's marked and it's silver underneath .... I was holding the blade thing you use to scrape off the top and tripped over my dad's briefcase. I didn't realise anything had happened until I saw blood all over the floor. I looked at my hand and the scraper thingy was stuck through my index finger, half sticking out one side, half out of the other (it was about 7" long). And it wouldn't come out. Had to go to the A&E dept, where I had stitches. I still have the scar on my finger.
