I seen some old farmer tools that was like a long broom stick with a sharp stabbing end (like a garbage collector). Any other ideas? And where to buy this idea?

I am suffering from that same compressed snow problem on my driveway after the Feb 14th ice storm. I have the ice breaker that juncogirl3 mentioned and find it the solution to all problems like that.

The most effective way to use it is to find an area where you can chop straight down on the snow pack. When the blade goes through to the driveway surface then use the flat part to push the loosened ice out of the hole. After that turn the tool to a sharp angle and push it against the bottom edge of the snow pack surrounding the new hole. What it will do when you shove is to slide under the nearby ice and lift it off the ground. If that happens then keep sliding it along until you have detached a long line of ice. Now pick another direction and keep doing that sliding under. You will end up with the packed snow detached from the ground and easily cleanable by a snow shovel. If it doesn't come off then try another place, preferably in the sun where it might be easier. If none of it comes off you need more warmth and some salt to get started.

If you have a step or so that absolutely needs its ice off even in the worst of weather then chop vertically with the blade to get through to the ground. It is not fast work but it does help (especially with some salt dropped into the cracks you make in the ice.)

With a compressed hardpersistent, all of the archives is compressed because it incredibly is written to the disk, and decompressed whilst it incredibly is examine from the disk. domicile windows does this automagically for you. the assumption is that with a compressed disk, you could keep extra archives. in spite of the undeniable fact that, you will discover that maximum media, audio and video notably, are already compressed and further compression do no longer need any considerable result. Media takes up maximum individuals of my document area, i don't be attentive to approximately yours. additionally, as reported in previous solutions, there is extra load on the CPU to compress/decompress all this understanding on the fly, so document get right of entry to would be slower. Given the fee of hardpersistent area those days, there seems little element in compressing hard drives. notably whilst it has little to no result on what's in many circumstances the main difficulty-loose variety of archives.

If you dont want to use salt or deice, by an ice breaker. It almost looks like a hand lawn edger but really does the trick. The item is long handled with a flat edged blade. It works wonders and you dont have to use chemicals if you dont want to. If youre not opposed to rock salt, a treatment of rock salt an hour or so before ice breaking will make the job a lot easier.
