Try using the utility FDISK, you can store it on a bootable floppy disk, and it will format your hard drive. Another way would be just reinstalling your operating system, but then you would still be left with the operating system on your hard drive. There are different utilities that you can use, FDISK has worked for me in several jobs that I have done. Oh, and by the way, electronic stores such as Best Buy, charge WAY TOO MUCH, for a job, so if you can do it yourself or have a friend do it, it would be great, I do free jobs for my family and friends all the time.

If you mean wipe a drive so it's nearly impossible to restore anything. DOD standards call for 7 rewite passes alternating zeroes and ones. This reduces recovery likelihood to less than 5%. There are custom software programs that can run from a floppy that can do this. Disk Wipe comes to mind.

I strongly advise that you avert all the so observed as cleaners; none truly artwork. As you said, many have imbedded insects in them and some are so smart as to have the computer virus sleep for some days after the rebuild earlier to them coming to life. I strongly advise you reformat the confusing rigidity and commence with a conventional sparkling slate. Use your restore disc to attempt this.

Yes. Go to your local computer store, and tell them to wipe it clean. They can easily do it. But it will cost some money, so be prepared to pay for it.
