My dog does this when it has been awhile between walks. She is just telling you that she really enjoys her walks. She is returning the favor by taking you for a walk.

You have let your dog develop a very bad habit. Put a training collar (aka pinch collar) on your dog, along with a sturdy lead. Make her walk on your left side by your left hip. Pinch collars are made to work by giving the dog a quick "pop". They are not made to pull the dog around. If the dog starts to pull or get ahead of you, give her a quick, hard pop to make her get back. I use the word "easy" to make mine slow down. One hard pop is better than 10 little ones.

If she tries to take the lead into her mouth, do not try to pull it out. Instead jerk the lead further back into her mouth. This is not pleasant for the dog and will actually make her spit it out. If this does not work, put your hand across her muzzle and press her top lip against the bottom of her canine teeth firmly. This will also make her open her mouth. After she has released the lead, tell her what a good dog she is. Do not bait her with food to open her mouth or she will learn to get a treat by grabbing the lead.

I would really recommend taking her to a training class. This will help teach her some manners. The instructors can also show you some other ways to help solve your problems.

Dont let her do it because she will think shes the dominant species. I just got back from dog obediance and all u do is give the leash a good snap and loudly and clearly say "NO" .

you have to show her you are the leader. put a short leash on her so you are always keeping her head up without choking. you control the walk, you are master.
