I thought it started out well but went downhill from there. Would love other opinions.

God yes. It was interesting for the first few chapters, but then it just went on and on and on. I thought it was entirely predicatble and found myself skipping whole chapters.

I have read it and didn't really like it at all. Not that I think it's a poorly written book, but it would never come close to making my best list. I think Lovely Bones is slightly overrated, and it began a trend in YA lit that is still going strong--dead protagonists as narrators. Other books with the same theme work better than Lovely Bones...in my opinion.

I think the book got so much hype because of the concept. A story being told from the viewpoint of a murder victim sounds so interesting. But then when you actually read the book, it's a disappointment. It's almost like it was written for a younger audience. There is no symbolism, no surprises, nothing to make you have to think. It was just a simple, easy story, which is fine...but it should not have gotten the acclaim that it received.

Ugh, I hated that action picture. i % the 2hrs of my existence I spent observing it back. It wasn't what I predicted, i presumed the girl replaced into going to help her dad resolve her homicide. The storyline itself sorta have been given lost and what replaced into there replaced into idiotic. the only element that I enjoyed replaced into the photographs of the in-between section, they have been beautiful. i got here upon the storyline

It was a good book, and I enjoyed reading it. That said, it was overrated/hyped. I've definitely read better books.

Is that an Oprah book club selection? If so, yes, it is overated.

I think it wasn't well-written. I think that it was marketed to teen girls, and that's why it became so popular.
