I went through a house fire back in 1999. After getting the children out, I went back into the house several times trying to find my poodle, Stormy. (We didn't find her)
But the things I miss the most are my photo albums, home movies and my daughters dance recital tapes. Those are things I'd gladly give all of my material possessions to have back.

I would grab my computer(just the hard drive),grab some clothes if I had time.
One time my sisters car caught fire,we were on the road driving back from Cleveland, and she just sat there behind the wheel.
She had just finished paying off her car the previous week, and she just sat there cursing the car banging the wheel and wouldn't move.ha ha ..
It is kind of funny now,but at the time it wasn't . I thought she was going to burn up if I didn't get her out. She finnaly got out of the car and we watched it burn ,at a safe distance.
The damn thing just caught fire for no reason, electrical, and the state trooper was asking questions as if we set it on fire, which really really pissed me off big time.
I cannot believe police can be so ignorant sometimes.

As long as my pets and people are safe I would try to save my pictures. When I was about 5 our house burnt down we were away at the time on vacation and our cat got out on his own and we lost everything, and my mom said that if she could have only one thing replaced it would be her photos and as a result of the fire I have very few pictures of myself before I was 5 and only 2 baby pictures that my grandmother gave to me.

I'm glad you mentioned that the people and pets were already saved, because it would be my pets that needed to be saved. After that, it's all material things and can be replaced. If there was time, I'd try to grab my ID cards and cell phone. At least I could restart with something.

My wallet, my passport & the keys to my car.
My wallet have in all my cash & my debit /credit cards so I can buy clothes & food & rent someplace to stay temporary. My passport is very important to me because I love travelling & a replacement takes ages. And of course my car is important for getting around & getting to work & I would definitely drive it away from my burning house to prevent it from being damaged. With these three items I can survive indefinitely.

I have a Sony DVD player that holds 300 of my hard to find and long time to get movies... and a Sony 300 disk CD player which is holding about 200 of my Cd's. The rest of the stuff in my house is easily replaceable.

Hopefully the house, I'd try to extinguish the fire, if not I'd try to grab the car keys and my purse and get away from the power lines.
