The only risks are infection and MRI problems. Infection can happen either from an unsterilized needle or after you get the tattoo because your skin isn't healed, but the first one won't happen and the second one is much less likely if you go to a certified tattoo place. There are some studies that say tattoos can harm people or be distorted in MRIs, but this is very rare and probably caused (again) by homemade tattoos, which use more metallic inks. Unless you're allergic to the inks, you should be fine.

Just like anything you've never eaten or put on or near your person, there is a risk of an allergic reaction. There is also the possiblity that the tattoo will scar which is a good reason to do research on tattooists before just going out and getting one.
As for what is in the ink, ask the tattooist who will be doing the tattoo. There is a good chance that he mixes his own inks and knows exactly what is in them, but check out the site to see what makes up the various colors.

I don't think there are any bad side effects, apart from those mentioned by the lady before me. other trhan that, I think they're only bad if you decide you don't like them anymore.

they dont change the needle and if the person before you had hiv you can get cause they dont wipe the needle off very time they dip it in the ink.
