I would say he would.
a) surviving that experience would have given him a second chance at everything so he would have loved everything a thousand times more
b) he would be willing to try anything new (soccer to an american is definitley new)
c) anything involving a ball was probably amazing to him because of that connection with wilson

Don't know if he ever liked soccer while he was on the island. Just because he talked to a soccer (volley) ball doesn't mean he liked the sport.
