I have been asked to organize a car show, I just want to make sure that I have all my bases covered. I just need a few tips and thoughts on how to organize a car show for a University Community. Thanks.

The location will be a university campus, so security, insurance, food, and facilities are already taken care of.

Check with the local chapter of any car club (you'll find them probably by asking at the neighborhood NAPA Parts Store, Pep Boys or CarQwest). They'll tell you what you should have to organize a meeting of this sort.

Then check with your local police department to find out whether a gathering of this sort requires a permit (chances are, it will!). Then check the venue - inside or outside? Parking lot or park? On Private property (barnyard, field, parking area, Campus) or public (street or elsewhere)?

There are a million and one details involved in setting up a car show. How and where will you recruit cars to show? Are you looking for new cars, customs, street rods, racing cars or some other type vehicles? I think this is a job better asked of a committee than one person...
