I've not a lot of wisdom to impart, but I feel that it stems from wanting to either impress or assist others.

"Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth."

Some people do feel the need to do so, but i think for the most part, people just want to be helpful. Cuz there is no feeling like the feeling you get when you know you´ve actually helped someone and made a difference in their lives, no matter how small a difference that may be. :)

There are some well meaning individuals out there how care. There there is plenty of unhappy people who get a power kick telling people how to improve their lives. Not realizing everyone has issues and problems just like them. Always judging the book by the cover not the content.

One:They care
Two: They assume the other person has a need
Three: They assume that they are more intelligent and should share
Four: They make too many assumptions without asking the person whether they are interested in their opinon.

Everyone has an opinion -- just as common as a cold.

Ask permission ---better results long-term.

It depends on what kind of wisdom. When it comes to how to raise my kids, I stop listening when they say "This is what I did...blah blah"

If it's wisdom about building a fence or something useful, I usually listen just in case I ever end up needing that info...

It makes some people feel important, like they have a purpose in this world. I just do it for fun when I'm trying not to think about my 18 hours of classes a week because it makes me feel smarter.

The answer to that is simple enough - we would all like to think that we harbor wisdom about a wide variety of subjects, and that people actually really care what we think.

When I was growing up, my mom told me this:

"Opinions are like butt-holes. We all have one and most of them stink!"

I don't know...I ask myself why people feel the need to thumbs down my answers when nothing I've said is worthy of that. It's the same thing - it doesn't make a lick of sense.
