looking to get a cheap laptop to surf the net and write some stuff, watch a movie, that sort of thing, looking to spend about £300 ish is a refurb laptop worth the money even if it has a 12 month gurantee?

ok, thats sound advice, but where can i get one on xp and not vista cause ive heard its best to wait and not to straight for a new windows OS, everywhere i look its vista this and vista that

Have a look at Dell you will get a new one for not much more than that

I got a refurbished laptop from IBM and it has been excellent so far (three years). Of course there is the risk of having problems with it later, but for $300 what can you expect? The screen could burn, the disk could get damaged, etc.

I used to work for Dell and you're rolling your dice.

Some are just as good as new ones.

And others have subtle problems that couldn't be diagnosed so the just sent them out again as being refurbished without ever finding out what was really wrong with them.

I'd say if your work, business, or grades depend on your laptop working don't rish it.

why spend money on a laptop when you can get it for free? just go to this site and complete a few quick tasks and they'll send you a sony vaio laptop at no charge!

no you can get a new one for that look on Dell's web site or PC worlds your bound to find one
