Well I know for sure that it is not. We have today been gazumped on the deal we had made for buying a house. We have also sold our house and should be moving out in just over a week. We are now going to have to do the same to the buyers of our house.
I feel very angry and don't know if there is anything we can do.

Gazumping is apparently not illegal under Scottish law but was/is virtually unheard of due to the difference in house purchase practice. However it appears to be creeping into Scotland due to the increasing numbers of English house buyers.

Your offer to purchase is a contract. Contracts can be broken IF you want to pay the price... You may have been gazumped but the gazumper will have to pay for this freedom... sue his *ss for your iving expenses until you find another suitable house to buy.

in scotland nothing is for sure untill untill everything is signed sealed and delivered, scotland has open offers and quite often do not have a closing date so sellers can take the best price that is offered to them, you might not have been gazumped but somone has put a better offer in than you,
