I got the American Idol Kareaoke game for PS2. It's my sister's birthday and this is a gift to her. HELP!!!

I got the game and 2 USB Headsets like the people at Gamestop told me. My sister plugged in the USB and tried to start the game. I checked out the connection and it's alright. She tried to start and it wouldn't begin the song. It said that the Microphone/Headset was not found. I tried a few more times, and it would still not work. Is it something wrong I was doing? Maybe a bad headset? It's GigaWear. Need answers for my sister!
