I am doing a research project and would like your help. I personally think that the media does have a liberal bias, but I would like your opinion.

I don't think the media has a liberal bias. I think it's more central or conservative-leaning. When you say the media for your research project, be sure you define it clearly. When you say "the media" do you mean Hollywood or news channels or talk shows?

IMHO - here's how it breaks down:
Hollywood: supporting whoever is in power, with spurts of liberalism

News channels: CNN, MSNBC - largely conservative, with highlights of liberals, except of course FOX which is completely conservative and (not to equate the two) completely biased, a joke, and a propaganda insult to any thinking person

Talk Shows: Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. - CLEARLY a conservative bias, and poor reporting and weak commentary to boot

Look how they cover a story for example Abortion:
They refer to for abortion as Women's rights or Pro-Choice nice terms very postive. Who can be against women's rights and isn't choice good.
Now the other side is refer to as anti-abortion or restricting women's rights negative terms. How cany one be against women's rights etc.
The bias is now set.

Another example what is cover by the news in Iraq:
Abu Grabi- weeks of reporting following the trails and protest how evil our troops are. Never mind all those envoled are now doing time and being punished.
Our troops get beheaded- A day or two at most no weeks of coverage on the family or how evil the Muslim terrorists are and they don't respect human rights.
Another bias comes through.

Most news organizations tell just one side of the story in 30 second sound bites. Fox has a conservative slant and look at how liberals call it as Faux news and whole host of names.
Yet I see Fox do more to tell a different side of the story. The only news that has a liberal slant but does a far better job in background in NPR.

Now when it comes down to liberal or conservative slant it does depend on how conservative or liberal you are in the field.
Most people think they are moderates and they see things from the center which they don't that includes me I bring my own view to things.

So if you are serious about seeking the truth you do have to listen to both sides with very watchful eyes.

I hope this helps.

No, I don't.

Why?
Too many opportunities to hold Bush and Cheney accountable for questionable actions were passed over by the news media.

Also, they news media basically regurgitates whatever press releases the White House hands out.
They do not question the releases and pretty much read them on the news verbatim.

Finally, the news media are run by large, conservative corporations which are supported by conservative shareholders.

And that includes Fox News, which is no more biased to the right than CNN. CBS, ABC or NBC are to the left.

The only real bias are the radio talk shows - Rush and Sean Hannity on the right, Al Franken on the left.

About the only fair-and-balanced radio (and TV) talk show host is Bill O'Reilly.
The man is a critical thinker (in my opinion).

How can you seriously doubt the lefty bias of the media? The media itself is proud of that distinction. Rush Limbaugh's drugs received a lot more coverage than Air America's bankruptcy and/or their involvement in defrauding the "Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club."

When the Clinton's were in office there were so many shocking things they did that the media breezed over. For instance when those "lost" FBI files appeared in their private quarters. Also when it was reported that the Clintons would be part owners in Clinics that would be receiving Federal money for "frree" healthcare. And the fact everyone but them went to jail for the Whitewater fiasco, and the tax payers took the blow for that, the media didnt seem concerned. There are more but I have to get to work.

Yes, because SOME counterbalance is necessary to offset the Christian Right's view of the world and bring the arguements to the public that they will never hear from the left leaning news media... like FOX Noise channel.

What "liberal media"? Name one.

You won't because you can't. There are none.
