i have been told my many people now that cosco is a viable and more socially responsible alternative to wal mart or any of the other big box stores but i don't understand why......anyone know some of the details?

Well not all items in Costco are the best price, Walmart and even Safeway beat Costco's price in some things. But the biggest thing to remember is that Costco is more of a big warehouse, so for a single person the big boxes and packages of food just turn into a waste, because it goes bad before you can eat it. So I would shop around for the better price. Sure you can get a really good deal at Costco some times, but don't think that Costco always has the lowest price because that statement is not always correct. Look for the best price for the amount that your going to be using.

One of the reasons people say that Costco is socially responsible is because they pay there employees a livable wage.
