a lot of pharmacies want parental consent just so if the child has a reaction or uses the med for other purposes that the parent cannot come back and sue.

Go to another pharmacy or planned parenthood. The pharmacist is letting his/her beliefs interfere with others health care, spread the word to all you know to boycott that pharmacy. Although under 18 still may need a prescription anyone 18 or older may purchase the product over the counter to include males, they can easily give to anyone under 18. No parental consent is needed to fill an RX also federal law protects women 15+ access to confidential family planning services and RX's. In requiring a parents consent to fill a subscription violates federal law.

Federal law clearly states you must be 18 years or older to buy it. That's without a prescription.

As for pharmacists not dispensing because of religious reasons... my hubby has been a pharmacist for 20 years, and the last time he saw any pharmacist refuse to fill something because of a religious stand was NEVER. It is a myth. It happened maybe once, got in a national newspaper, and now everyone thinks it happens all the time. Nope. Doesn't.

Either she is relying on it as a method of birth control, has taken it already in the last month, the pharmacist doesn't carry Plan B because they don't believe in it, or they want parental concent. I suggest going to a Planned Parenthood clinic as they will generally carry the pills or be able to guide you where to get them.

in the US they can only sell it to people 18 and older. try going to planned parenthood or some other women's health clinic.

Could be they don't believe in abortion so they won't give her the plan B. Some doctors do that. Or maybe she is to far along.
